Wordless Wednesday - 8

People, my very first attempt at shooting fireworks! Of course, there are several faults in the pictures and it would have been better with a nice, well lit back drop. But on the whole, I have to admit I`m very proud of these pictures! Over the last few months, I have spent hours reading up about various technical details and camera accessories as well as studying the pictures taken by professionals. And the hard work paid off, I guess :):) Here`s a collage of a few from my maiden attempt! Do click on it for a better view.

"You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, the flies die from happiness and the sky explodes in fireworks. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism."
Erma Bombeck

I do! :)

Happy Independence Day, America! :)

GNSD: :):) Thank you! *Piper takes a bow!*

UmaS: :) Night shots can be a little tricky. You need to use long exposures and for that you need to stabilize the camera on a tripod or a wall or something. But it`s not rocket science! :) Try it out sometime and see for yourself :):)

Pictures are good, but last lines make me feel as if writer is mocking us (India) . Us shows its strength in many other ways, while in our parade we show our pride..our prized possesions, its not only arms, but our handicrafts and our people also.

Nu: Thank you! :)

Renu: Oh God, NOOOOOOOO! That isnt a judgment passed on other national ceremonial functions. It simply describes the American tradition here. At best, it might have even been satirical - though I think she`s simply describing the popular tradition here. And for once, I think it is just perfect. I love Erma Bombeck`s style of writing. May be you should read her stuff. Then you`ll realize Renu, that she basically writes humorous stuff. She doesn't mock other traditions or cultures. She`s simply an expert in the humor genre.

Wow wow wow Piper. I know its not that easy. The first time I took pics of the musical fountain @ Mysore in the evening, they looked like dancing lights ;) ;)

Beautiful Piper! Great job. You are one of those who really works hard when she gets to do something. Inspiring. I am the exact opposite, I never study anything, and if I ever do, i hardly ever remember. :(

Great work. Really! You are the kind of daughter my parents would love to have, dedicated and sincere in all her endeavors. A perfectionist!

Wow these pictures are amazing (faults? what faults??)! I'm feeling quite guilty now about never even having read the manual of the digicam I hounded the husband to buy me a few years ago. About time methinks.
