Wordless Wednesday - 1

I confess - I didnt have the faintest clue about 'wordless Wednesday'. I thought it was something started by Swaram! But of late, I have noticed some spectacular pictures during random blog hopping and realized how beautiful a concept it is, to be able to speak to your readers through pictures. And so, without getting too 'wordy', let me begin a new trend on my blog too.
I promise that the subsequent wordless posts shall all truly be wordless! :):)
For now, allow me to explain why I have chosen these pictures to be the first ones of the series. These two pictures are actually a patchwork of a few letters that Dad had written to me, when I was away at college. Each one of his letters have been a guiding light in my life. Some are even funny (like 'dont quarrel'(!!). I cannot accommodate them all. But here`s a glimpse of a few.

It has been a little over a year since Dad went away. And even though sometimes I still hurt so bad, I have been able to look at these letters and smile. And so, here I am, sharing my most precious possessions with you. Letters from my Dad.
As I mentioned earlier, all subsequent wordless posts will be just that - wordless! :):)
*In case you cant read the hand writing, I`ll be happy to oblige*

You are lucky to have letters your dad wrote - I don't...E-mails and phones have made snail mail redundant in our family...

Loved it Piper :)
Very emotional and at the same time thoughtful presentation of the letters in the picture.

Hug to you and looking forward to more awesome pics in the future :D :D

Cheers!!

Would leave a wordless comment, but that would be pointless too.Not so long ago, a friend of ours lost her husband, and I would wonder how she could bring herself to read his diary over and over again without intensifying the pain. Then one day, I came across something that he had written , that was open for everyone to read, and that's when I realised just how much a person's handwritten words can speak when they no longer can.

It is not necessary to read the hand writing.Your emotions have spoken enough.

This was sweet..
the whole idea really. I'm surprised to see so many letters.. very rarely do u see a dad write to his kid while she's in college.. esp in the day and age of emails.. Sorry for your loss.

I'm sure he's proud of you and your memory of him.. me, I'm still trying to get to a stage where I can make my dad proud of me :)
This was a letter I'd written and which was sent to him along with all the "comments" as wishes.

Wow... Awesome Piper - read that "grow up now, have some responsibilities" .... have you?? ;p .. You know what once during relocation I had chanced upon an old trunk storing the letters Dadu had written to Baba when he was away for his first job posting, Baba had retained them a bit "too" well and so never found them again. Ma suggested we gift them to him on his 50th birthday as a surprise... Needless to say that evening he cried, but for once I didn't feel guilty. Till now I have that box, because Baba feared of again keeping it away "too well". You are so lucky to have these! *Hugs*

Sraboney: You know, all the letters that I have (more from Ma actually) were written when I was away at college, when didnt have internet at home; And then again, when I was away at J&K, I didnt have an access to internet at all. So I guess, I have just been lucky. These are are most prized possessions.

Chatterbox: :):) Thank you so much! In fact, I`m looking forward to posting a few pictures too. I have been meaning to, esp after this new found interest in photography that I have developed :) You should start as well :)

MRC: I think I may have read about your friend in one of your posts. You`re right - these are the only tangible memories I will ever have. All the rest will be in my heart.

B K Chowla: Thank you for such a wonderful comment, Sir. Yes, it has been very difficult to go through these letters. These are the only tangible memories I have.

Sunshine: :):) You should cherish them, Kiddo. You know, later on it is always such a pleasure to go over old letters!

Dr Roshan: Welcome to my blog. And there is a reason I have so many handwritten letters in today`s world - because we didnt have internet at home when I was at college and later when I was working, I didnt have an access to internet. I was at J&K :)

Sagarika: Of all the lines, trust you to decipher those ones! :) In fact there`s a story to that. May be someday I`ll post a few more lines from that letter to explain :):) I have some of Dadu`s letters too - which he had written to his sister and to grandmom when he way away. They are so priceless. I`m glad you`ve kept them well :):)

Indyeah: Hey, thanks so much my friend! It`s so good to see you here :):) How have you been? I must hop over to your space to catch up. It`s been a while..

This is so precious Piper. Very very valuable indeed. I am a big fan of snail mail, there is nothing more personal than seeing the handwriting and feeling the care.
