Ok People, I know I haven`t quite kept up with the Blog World. BUt I shall get back and soon. Right now,I am busy doing nothing. And then some more. I have simply been taking it easy. Relaxing after a long time. Just letting myself be.
I have this newfound interest in gardening these days! Have been trying to grow some flowers :) What`s amazing is that plants respond if you talk to them. They really do. So I`ve been roaming around, talking to my plants, watering them, letting them soak up the warm sunshine and telling them stories of happier times. It makes them smile. It makes me smile too.I promise to put up pictures of my flower garden in the next post.
And then, The G and I had a midweek movie and a dinner date yesterday. Watched 'Inglorious Bastards'. Frankly speaking, Quentin Tarantino really isnt my type of guy. But I loved the movie all the same. Just as I have liked most of his other movies. Brad Pitt was awesome in this one. As always.
But movies arent what I want to talk about today.
Let me share something with you.
I am not a baker. Never have been. But I have always longed to be. I remember how excited my kid sister and I would be when Ma would bake a cake at home. The good old oven would be out, cleaned up and ready. And we would vigorously beat the batter for Ma and wait patiently(well almost!) for Ma to finish, so we could lick the bowl! Those were such happy times.
So finally today I decided I had to bake. And what better way to start than with a German Black Forest Cake. It wasn`t as difficult as I had imagined(God bless the man who invented a blender!). But the final dressing took a painfully long time. Gah. Patience is what I so need to cultivate!
Hopefully it will taste as great as it looks.
See for yourself.
What d`ya think guys? :):)

Yummy! I want some.
And you are talking to plants? Wow! I know they respond great to that and music. You go girl.
Yum yum and more yum!! I'm coming over asap :-D I'm lazing around too these days and quite a peace too :-)
I think you are a baker at least a better one than me...
Tarantino - I don't like his movies (my husband loves them) because they are all about him...He's full of himself and it shows in his work...Also, all his movies are violent - there's only so much I can take...
waah thats nice!! i love baking too...tho yea the one time i tried it - it turned out quite flat and completely uncooked from the inside!! but then i like uncooked batter better so i ate it up half uncooked!!
hehe...i have wonderful memories of mom baking...i would never let her buy my bday cakes and insisted that she bake them!! :)
Gardening, baking...Mish, so good to hear that.
The cake looks yum. Have fun with new hobbies. Life is to be lived the fullest. Hugs.
Cake looks so tempting..I love the cherry on the top:)
Gardening and baking both are good hobbies..keep it up:)
You BAKED that cake?! Wow! You must already have lots of patience to do that. It's what I need to cultivate if I am ever to bake a cake that's fully baked!
Wow that looks great!!! I am bad at this ... my cakes taste much better than they look :)
Gardening is great... and I have heard about talking to plants but never gave it much thought... so it really works?! Do put up some pictures !!!
Haven't seen your plants.Cake is so visible and tempting
Smitha: hey, it actually did taste great! I`m so glad :)
Goof: You know, they actually do. I dunno if its the plant food or the water or just my voice that does it, but they have been blooming :):)
Domestic Diva: I saw the pictures on orkut. And btw, that skirt is gorgeous! :)
Sraboney: I know..my hubby is very fond of Tarantino as well. Its funny how I always watch his movies very unwillingly, but in the end I actually do like the way the plot ends! All his movies are gross in their own ways, though I loved 'Jackie Brown'. Watch it, may be you`ll like it :)
Sunshine: I know, I know... try it out with the cake mix first, in case you`re really interested. But I`d suggest(since you`re still a kiddo :):) you leave the baking to old bong auntyjis and just go ahead and kick some A$%@#$%!!
Solilo: :) I know, I feel so relieved and de-stressed. I`m just trying to do things that are making me happy :)
Renu: I am :) and I`m not particularly fond of cherries myself. I didnt even have the regular ones at home. Just some tinned fruit salad. And I got the cherries from that :):)
D: I cant believe it myself! And although it really tasted divine, I`m going to think 50 times before starting off on a black forest cake again! :)
IHM: Ohh yes it does. My MIL was initially watering them. Then she stopped and the plants had all dried up. Rabbits had eaten the flowers as well. But now since I have all the time in the world, I have been feeding them, watering them and talking to them. You cant imagine the difference! They are all blooming again!! :):) I`ll put up some pictures today.
B K Chowla: Sir, I`ll put up the pictures of my plants today :)
Oh my god!
You ACTUALLY baked that?! WOAH!
I bow to you, you superwoman you!
and me..cherry is the fruit I love the most and hog there:)ov
Gardening helps u loose weight too..reminded me of oldddd times... we used to have a garden in our parents house..Dad being a botanist had absolutely no interest in the things that grew out of soil while mom inspite of being an economist had one hellova green thumb..
It used to be fun watering and shovelling around and we used to pull in dad for all the man jobs like lifting a heavy mound of earth from some place or reaching some place real high and eventually get him roped in completely - and one big happy family activity.
Boy am i getting nostalgic..
Damn this apartment culture now a days :"(
You can bake!!!! You deserve to be lauded Piper!! the work looks simply dazzling!!!!
Hey i am also in your boat...busy, doing nothing...
lol! i do kick ass! :D
plus u r anythin but an old bong auntyji! :P
Get out!!!! I can not believe it! The cake looks absolutely GORGEOUS...JJ
The cake looks yum! Send me a piece, will you? :)
And I'm not too fond of Tarantino either - I find most of his films full of gratuitous violence.
Yowzaa!! That look droolicious!
